Overview of Foundations of Software Testing ISTQB Certification Book

The ISTQB is an Edinburgh based organisation responsible for awarding certifications to professionals that test software according to their level of expertise. There are four levels of certification where each level is more difficult and of a higher standard than its preceding level. Candidates can chose to stop after clearing the first level of basic foundation level certification or appear in consecutive tests to achieve the highest expert level certification. Rex Black, a software engineer and entrepreneur has written this book that is well suited for the ISTQB Foundation level syllabus. The book attempts to be as comprehensive as possible in the six subjects that are in the prescribed for the exhaustive course. The approach to each topic has been kept simple, straight and practical with illustrations to clarify concepts in software testing. Important terms have been defined in each chapter and sample questions have been provided for practice. This edition also has seven previous ISTQB Foundations Level Papers with solutions to help candidates in grasping the concepts in problem solving. There is a broad glossary to include terms and definitions that are important in software testing. A mock test for the candidates to solve and self-evaluate what they have learnt has been included in the end. About the author: Alex Black, born in 1964, is a graduate in computer science and engineering from University of California. Having spent more than 20 years in software testing, the author has even taught at Texas University and is a founder of RBCS Inc, a company that he heads.
